Although the history of the city of Borja takes us back to the beginnings of the Paleolithic period, it wasn’t until the 4th century before Christ, in the heart of the Celtiberian period, when thanks to classical and numismatic written sources the name of this village came to light: Bursao.

With the passing through Bursao of different civilizations like the Romans, Visigothic Hispania and the Muslims we have inherited architectural remains and above all, the natural inclination of its people towards agriculture and more particularly viniculture.

Of equal importance was the implementation of artisanal techniques that today endure as living proof of the cultural richness of the former Bursao today known as Borja.

During the I and II centuries, before our time, it used to mint bronze coins, ases and dividers as a symbol of its autonomy. On the obverse of the as we can see a celtiberian rider armed with a lance, riding on the writing of the name of the city in the native alphabet. The emblem adopted by the winery as a sign of identity.
